Wienerschnitzel’s On a Roll: Celebrating Multiple New Openings

Posted on

Wienerschnitzel, the world’s largest hot dog franchise, is on a growth streak like never before. With several recent openings, we’re accelerating our strategic expansion across the nation, focusing on key markets west of the Mississippi. These openings not only reflect our brand’s momentum but also present prime opportunities for multi-unit operators looking to diversify their quick-service restaurant (QSR) portfolios.

Wienerschnitzel expands with new openings in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, and California and officially enters Nebraska.

Fountain, Colorado: A New Hub for Chili Dog Lovers

Just south of Colorado Springs, Fountain has become home to our third Wienerschnitzel location in Colorado. This expansion is led by local multi-brand operators Scott Wohlman and Manjinder Singh, both seasoned franchisees with extensive experience in building successful businesses.

Wohlman brings over 25 years of experience from 7-Eleven Inc. and has been a franchisee since 2008. He joins forces with Singh, who has owned multiple 7-Eleven locations in Colorado since 2005. Together, they are committed to introducing Wienerschnitzel’s unique flavors to the region. This location is their second Wienerschnitzel restaurant, with development already underway for stores #3 and #4 in the works.

Omaha’s Turn to Taste the Tradition

Wienerschnitzel’s focus on Midwest growth is starting 2025 off strong with our first Nebraska location which opened in January in Omaha. Situated near the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the flourishing Aksarben Village, this Wienerschnitzel has been a huge success since day-1. Born Omaha natives, Rachel and John Steier, are thrilled to bring our unique concept home.

Bringing Wieners to the Lone Star State

Texas continues to be a prime market for Wienerschnitzel’s expansion, with new locations recently opening in Horizon City, Pharr, and San Antonio. Growth in the Rio Grande Valley is spearheaded by multi-unit franchisee Akhil Kumar, who opened both his Pharr location, and his second Wienerschnitzel in Brownsville.

Kumar relocated to South Texas in 2022 after establishing a successful multi-unit C-store business in Northern California. He quickly recognized the potential of the Rio Grande market and is passionate about introducing our beloved hot dog menu to a community that appreciates it.

Additionally, restaurant industry veterans Samantha Garcia and Chris Cavazos recently opened their first Wienerschnitzel location in San Antonio. Inspired by their childhood Wienerschnitzel memories and with plans to open four more restaurants over the next 6-years, Garcia and Cavazos are looking forward to introducing the neighborhood to our brand.

Expanding Our California Roots

On the West Coast, we’ve opened another store in California with a new location in Rocklin, led by longtime multi-unit operator Bal Soin. This addition marks Soin’s sixth Wienerschnitzel franchise, underscoring his commitment to our brand and its potential for success.

California is a cornerstone market for us, now home to over 200 Wienerschnitzel restaurants. This expansion is fueled by the high demand for our signature chili cheese dogs, chili cheese fries and the full lineup of Tastee Freez desserts. With nearly 45 years of experience with Wienerschnitzel, Soin plays a vital role in development and a voice with the home office.

Fellow multi-unit operators, brothers Ishak and Rasmi Ihmud, are bringing Wienerschnitzel to their hometown of Chino in Southern California. Opening in early February, the Ihmud brothers are proud of this milestone and their history with our brand that started with Ishak Ihmud as crew member when he was just 17 years old.
